More than 1,500 supporters of leading Russian opposition figure Alexei Navalny were arrested during anti-corruption protests throughout the country on Monday, a rights group said.
A total of 823 protesters were held by police in Moscow and an estimated 600 in Saint Petersburg, OVD-Info told AFP. Navalny himself was also arrested and swiftly jailed for 30 days for organising the protests.
