Turkish police on Sunday fired rubber bullets to prevent Gay Pride activists from going ahead with an annual parade in Istanbul's Taksim Square despite a ban from local authorities.
Police fired rubber bullets at a group of around 40 activists, an AFP journalist reported, a day after the city governor's office banned the parade citing safety and public order concerns.
