Russian opposition politician Alexei Navalny got a 30-day jail term after non-authorised protests took place across the country on Monday against government corruption, a spokeswoman said on Twitter.
"Sentence: 30 days," wrote Kira Yarmysh, after Navalny was convicted for organising the protests.
Russian authorities detained the 41-year-old and nearly 1,000 of his supporters earlier Monday, most of them in Moscow.
