US President Donald Trump on Saturday urged unity amid violent clashes in Virginia between far-right demonstrators and counter-protesters, calling on Americans to "condemn all that hate stands for."
"We ALL must be united & condemn all that hate stands for," the Republican leader tweeted. "There is no place for this kind of violence in America. Let's come together as one!"
The president's call came as the picturesque city of Charlottesville was flooded with protesters either taking part in or railing against a rally organized by white nationalists, leading the state's governor to declare a state of emergency.
