Uganda's Museveni wins 61% of votes with 83% counted

Uganda's veteran President Yoweri Museveni looked set Saturday to extend his three decades in power, winning 61 percent of votes cast in an election with 83 percent of the ballots counted, official results showed. His closest rival, Kizza Besigye, has won just 34 percent of the votes counted so far, according to Uganda's Election Commission. The full results are expected within the next few hours. |
