Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa
Manama - Arab Today

His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy President of the Supreme Council for Youth, Honorary President of Bahrain Mixed Martial Arts Federation, Founder of Khalid Bin Hamad Mixed Martial Arts Organisation (KHK MMA), said that support from HRH Shaikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al-Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, to the sport of Emirati Jiu Jitsu led for its distinction and the honorable results that enhanced its position at an international level.
His Highness said: "The vision of HRH Shaikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan in this sport came from the care given by His Royal Highness to support the youth and create the appropriate atmosphere for them to practice this sport, pushing them towards receiving the mental and physical rewards of this sport.
His Royal Highness support materialized as he pushed to hold Abu Dhabi International Jiu Jitsu Championship in 2009 and forming the UAE Jiu Jitsu Federation. On top of that, he also added it as a school subject to be taught in more than 100 Government schools.
His Highness added: "We also praise HH Shaikh Tahnoun bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Ruler's Representative of the Eastern Region of the United Arab Emirates, in supporting combat sports, most notably Jiu Jitsu as His Highness is considered to be the founder of Jiu Jitsu in the Emirates. This sport has received success and development thanks to the support of His Highness, which enhances the Emirates position and makes the capital of Abu Dhabi as the embracer of international Jiu Jitsu.
His Highness lauded UAE Jiu Jitsu Federation for supporting BRAVE 4, as it will be a real incentive towards more success in this international gathering held for the first time in the UAE. He pointed out that this event will reflect on the fruitful cooperation between the Kingdom of Bahrain and UAE, which will lead to development and honorable results in various international participations.
