Egyptian director Gamal Abdel Hameed has told Arabstoday: “I am about to finish shooting the ‘Shams el-Ansary’ series...I am currently filming in the desert.” Abdel Hamid added that it was hard to shoot because of the soaring temperatures, but he is committed to wrapping up filming before Ramadan,. "I have already finished the editing of 10 episodes so that they can be aired on TV screens," he said. “Shams el-Ansary” is written and directed by Gamal Abdel Hamid. It stars Mohamed Saad, Leqaa el-Khamisy, Mahmoud el-Gendy, Ahmed Azmy, Ramy Wahid, Sabry Abdel Moneim, Naglaa Badr, Ayda Riad and Samira Mohsen. Saad plays the role of “Shams el-Ansary”, a man from Upper Egypt and the son of Abdel Kader Aldharawi, the leader of one of Upper Egypt’s tribes. The events centre around a villages owned by a feudal lord before the July 1952 revolution, and monitors problems in Upper Egypt.
