Lifetime has ordered a second season of the nighttime soap "Devious Maids" to air next year, The Hollywood Reporter said. Created by "Desperate Housewives" mastermind Marc Cherry, the drama has been a ratings hit since it premiered on the cable network in late June. "One of the most daring series on television, 'Devious Maids' has quickly become a hit," Lifetime Executive Vice President and General Manager Rob Sharenow said in a statement. The show is about the relationships of a group of servants -- played by Ana Ortiz, Dania Ramirez, Roselyn Sanchez, Edy Ganem and Judy Reyes -- and their employers -- played by Susan Lucci, Rebecca Wisocky, Tom Irwin, Mariana Klaveno, Grant Show, Matt Cedeno, Melinda Page Hamilton, Drew Van Acker, Brianna Brown and Brett Cullen.
