Egyptian folk singer Ahmad Adawyeh will return to acting after a 25 year absence and star in the upcoming television drama “Mawlied Wa Sahboh Ghayeb” alongside Lebanese singer Haifa Wahbi. In the drama, Ahmad will play the role of Haifa’s father and will begin filming the first scenes once political conditions in Egypt are calm once more. The drama will mark Haifa’s first acting experience in a television drama. The drama will also star Egyptian belly dancer Fifi Abdo and prominent actor Hussein Fahmi. According to the internet website MBC.net, Ahmad revealed that writer of the drama Mustafa Muharam called him and offered a role in the drama and he immediately accepted, especially since he is very fond of Haifa and enjoys listening to her music. Ahmad also noted that he watched Haifa’s film “Dukan Shahata”, which was directed by Khaled Yousef, and was very impressed with her acting ability. Ahmad said that what attracted him most to the drama was its musical nature and he will be presenting a number of songs in it including duets with Haifa.
