"Good Morning America" anchors Robin Roberts and Josh Elliott met Pope Francis in St. Peter's Square in Vatican City Wednesday morning. The broadcast journalists were among the thousands of people attending the pontiff's weekly general audience, ABC News said. Roberts and Elliott shook hands with the pope after he delivered his Christmas message to the crowd. The pair later said the popular pontiff, who took office in March, asked them to pray for him. A visibly moved Elliott described Argentina-born Pope Francis, 77, as "revolutionary," and said the experience of meeting him was "humbling" and "memorable." "It was an honor to have been there," Elliott said. The journalists are in town working on an ABC News report about the Vatican. Pope Francis was recently named Time magazine's Person of the Year.
