Rita Ora arrives to watch London - Caroline Kent This season was a first for Burberry in so many ways. A rebirth of the brand, it was a new spring for the autumnal collection and at its heart was audience and consumer interaction. This was obvious firstly in the fact that the design house streamed their show live on Twitter and during an immersive in-store experience at their Regent Street retail headquarters. Alongside, of course, the catwalk show which was itself a stunning fusion of live music from Tom Odell and a gospel choir. The innovative and interactive features did not stop with the show though, as this Autumn/Winter we were in for Burberry's first Runway Made to Order line. This collection was made to be tailored and personalised. Each piece can be customised to your requirements, a bit like Couture for the masses, and you won't be surprised to hear that you'll most definitely want everything! The catwalk commenced with a signature Burberry trench, except with latex arms and gold metal finishing. Next was a knee-length heart print frock, followed by more of the metallic trenches we saw in the Spring/Summer collection, but this time round in a plum burgundy tone. For men there were kitsch (yet somehow stylish) heart print shirts under brown jackets with super skinny lapels. Then the animal prints arrived in two-by-two. A multi-pattern pencil skirt with chunky knit sweater was a stand-out ensemble. Similarly chic was a warm beige skirt and jacket combo, ultra tailored with a little peplum from the waist. Subtle industrial accents were seen throughout with metal waist belts, arm cuffs and neck collars, and ringlets punctured in to the hems of some skirts and jackets. A coat covered with metal gloops that looked like liquid nitrogen was another exciting example of this futuristic frontier. The beauty was typically Burberry, nude and natural but definitely 'done'. The front row unsurprisingly boasted the most celebs we've seen this week: Kate Bekinsale, Rita Ora, Donna Air, Rosie Huntington Whitely, Yasmin Le Bon, the list goes on and on. This season was a seminal moment for Burberry as a British fashion house, and cemented its place at the top of the food chain.
