Sharjah Ladies Club (SLC) opened its Ebriez Fashion Exhibition yesterday (June 1), with the popular annual event being held in the Kunooz Ballroom at the club’s headquarters. Running until June3, the third edition of the exhibitionaims to meet the fashion requirements of women and children for Ramadan and provide them with prestigious garments and gifts in preparation for the holy month.

The Exhibition was inaugurated by Khawla Al Serkal, Director-General of Sharjah Ladies Club; Hanan Al Mahmoud, Director of Jawaher Reception and Convention Centre;Amna Al Shanasi,Managerof Sharjah Ladies Club Branches, Director of SLC and Emirati designer, Mariam Al Yasi.

The first day of the Ebriez Fashion Exhibition 2016 witnessed an impressive footfall of ladies and their children keen to go shopping for fashion garments and stylish home accessories in readiness for Ramadan. In addition to the array of consumer items available for retail, a number of competitions held on the sidelines of the exhibitionensured that visitors were kept entertained, with raffle draws that are a feature of the exhibition’s three days proving particularly popular. Gifts from the draws are being provided by Sheraton Sharjah Beach Resort & Spa, Centro Sharjah, and Six Senses Zighy Bay Resort & Spa.

Open to the public every day from 3:00 to 9:00 pm, the exhibition is proving a unique occasion for ladies to enjoy the creative displays of abayas, kaftans and dresses, as well as collections of jewellery, accessories, children’s clothes, women’s handbags, exotic perfumes and fashionable home décor items.

Thirty-threeexhibitors from across the UAE are participating in this year’s edition of Ebriez Fashion Exhibition, which is being held under the slogan ‘Shop for Charity’. Among the acclaimed exhibitors from the fashion and non-fashion worlds are Kanzi Fashion Boutique, Asateer, Chic Turban, Almas fashion &Tailors, Bait Al Banafsaj,Atyab Al Marshoud,Decencia,Ashiaona Fashions, Sharjah Business Women Council and Sharjah Social Services Department.

The Ebriez Fashion Exhibition is organised in line with the vision of His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member of Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, to provide a platform to support small business owners by facilitating innovation and creativity in their projects.

SLC is donating the entire proceeds from the sale of women’s luxury used handbags at the exhibition, along with a portion of the exhibition’s overall takings, to The Big Heart Foundation (TBHF), a charity initiative launched by the Wife of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah, Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, Chairperson of Supreme Council for Family Affairs, to support refugee children globally.

“The timing of the Ebriez Fashion Exhibition is especially suitable for ladies, because it coincides with the beginning of Ramadan. We anticipate that this will increase the number of women attending who are keen to obtain personal fashion items, decorate their homes and buy clothes for their little ones in preparation for the commencement of the holy month. They are also being given an unrivalled opportunity to explore the latest accessories and high class abayas designed for holidays and special occasions, all in an exclusive environment for ladies,” saidKhawla Al Serkal, Director-General of Sharjah Ladies Club.

“The Ebriez Fashion Exhibition forms a major platform for ladies as it is one of the largest exhibitions of its kind organised in Sharjah. We are expecting a significant number of citizens and residents who live in the emirate or close by to visit theexhibition, which plays a key role in both achieving positive results for small businesses owners and contributing to the emirate’s economic growth,” Al Serkal added.

Mariam Al Hammadi, Director of ‘Salam Ya Seghar’, a TBHF initiative, commended SLC’s efforts and contributions to charity. She praised the fact that the Ebriez Fashion Exhibition was giving a portion of its proceeds to TBHFto help children and refugees in a number of Arab countries. She highlighted SLC’s role in supporting TBHF through its various events which are organised every year and the positive results that these contributions have in achieving the goals and objectives of TBHF.

Al Hammadi added that SLC’s generous charity initiative accords with TBHF’s policy, standards and goals, which aim to continue providing refugees and children in need with help and support, promoting the social and humanitarian solidarity that the UAE is seeking to enhance at all levels.

The Ebriez Fashion Exhibition is sponsored by Bee’ah, Sharjah Environment Company and the strategic partners are Al Hilal Projects and Gulf Tainer.
