Sure, the snow was so good last April that Vail Mountain had to reopen the weekend after its big season-closing bash, but there’s no guaranteeing snow. Or is there? Antlers at Vail hotel’s new Good Snow Guarantee promises a zero cancellation fee policy through December 13, 2013, so skiers can plan Colorado ski trips now with no financial risk – based on the skier’s own definition of “good snow.” And on top of ensuring just-right Colorado ski and snow conditions, the Antlers at Vail is offering a new Value Vail Package for the same timeframe that puts four people in a spacious two-bedroom condominium suite for four nights, with two days of Vail Mountain Resort lift tickets – plus unlimited snowshoe use – for $449 per person. “Could we get left holding the bag if it doesn’t snow? I guess so,” says Antlers at Vail condominium hotel General Manager Rob LeVine. “But I’ve just got a really good feeling about the snow this season.” And so far, Mother Nature seems to be cooperating, with a mid-September dusting of Vail area peaks followed by a statewide wintry blast on October 4 that brought more than half a foot to mountain areas. The just-released “Best Ski Resorts in the West” list from SKI magazine once again ranks Vail in the top three, with the 2014 “best” list calling it “a skier’s Disneyland.” And the recent installation of a high-speed six-passenger Doppelmayr chairlift to replace the decades-old Mountain Top Express Lift #4 promises new speedy access to areas including Vall’s legendary Back Bowls and Blue Sky Basin. Antlers’ guaranteed good snow adventures also include complimentary snowshoes for use by all of the Colorado hotel’s guests. “We’re really embracing snowshoeing this year as a great spontaneous way to enjoy Vail’s snow and scenery,” says LeVine, “whether you take a beginner Vail Golf Course trek, want to hoof it up the pass, or just stroll along Gore Creek on the path right outside our door.” As for Colorado skiing this season, the Antlers at Vail general manager’s outlook is undeniably positive. “With good snow guaranteed and a great early season lodging deal, great skiing’s a given,” says LeVine.
