Al Balid Ruins
This trading-turned-touristic hub is one of the popular destinations in Dhofar. Stop by and take a few photographs of remaining of old residential areas, stone-shaped artefacts, and Al Balid fort. This should be atop your list when heading to Salalah.
Sumhuram Old City
Visit Dhofar’s prehistoric city in frankincense road and enjoy scenic views of the old port and its mesmerizing ruins. The city was known for being the centre of frankincense trade in back in the day, and now has become a must-visit touristic destination.
Land of Frankincense
Take a trip into the mountains of Salalah and get fascinated by the heavenly fragrant, lined-up frankincense trees that are said to be there for more than 200 years. Mesmeric fresh hints, breezy weather conditions, and enormous green plantations, what’s there not to like.
Mirbat Castle
Stop by the historic and much-celebrated castle of Mirbat, which holds a special place in the hearts of Dhofaris, and get a sense of its rich history, as well as its ancient feel. The iconic exterior is not to be missed.
Frankincense Land Museum
This museum is a one-stop destination for everything related to Dhofar, hence, the land of frankincense. Visiting the place will surely be as interesting and enjoyable on the history of Dhofar and its people.
