Some 736,500 Chinese tourists visited Cambodia in the first 11 months of 2016, up 17 percent over the same period in 2015, the latest data of Tourism Ministry showed on Tuesday.
Chinese holidaymakers accounted for 16.7 percent of the 4.4 million international tourists visiting Cambodia during the January-November period last year, the data showed.
China ranked the second biggest source of tourists to Cambodia following Vietnam, whose 844,181 people traveled to the kingdom during the period, down 2.3 percent year-on-year.
Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Techo Hun Sen estimated last month that the kingdom would receive about 800,000 Chinese tourists in the whole year of 2016, an increase of 14.29 percent year-on-year.
Cambodia is famous for the 12th century Angkor Archeological Park in northwestern Siem Reap province. The ancient site greeted almost 2.2 million foreigners in 2016, earning gross revenue of 62.5 million U.S. dollars from ticket sales, according to government figures.
