Almond Beach Village in Barbados is set to close its doors on April 30 due to the deteriorating quality of the property and falling occupancy levels. According to a statement released by Ralph Taylor, CEO of the Almond Resorts, Almond Beach will close due to “the deteriorating quality of the product.” Guests who are booked at the 395-room resort will be relocated to Almond Beach Club and/or Almond Casuarina Beach, both on Barbados. The closure is expected to result in 500 employees losing their jobs. In recent months, 1,000 workers at the all-inclusive property took salary cuts in a bid to save the failing property, according reports. “We regret this unfortunate situation, but it could not be avoided,” Taylor said. Almond Resorts will have two properties after Almond Beach Village closes.
