Starwood Hotels & Resorts has signed another Le Meridien hotel in India.
Opening in 2018, Le Méridien Ahmedabad will be a 200-room new-build hotel, located in the centre of the Gujarat city, close to the Sanand Industrial Estate.
As part of a mixed-use development, the new hotel will feature a range of upscale facilities including three restaurants, a lounge, swimming pool and fitness centre. It will also include the Ahmedabad’s largest convention centre, with more than 6,800m² of meeting and event space.
“We believe the return of Le Méridien to Ahmedabad is a key milestone for Le Méridien, which is experiencing renewed traction and momentum throughout South Asia,” said Dilip Puri, Starwood’s regional vice president for South Asia.
“Since acquiring the brand in 2005, Starwood has made significant investments in redeveloping Le Méridien, which unlocks the destination for curious minded travellers through the arts, culture and cuisine, and with the rich cultural heritage of Ahmedabad, we feel this is a perfect match for the brand.”
Le Méridien Ahmedabad will become the brand’s third hotel in India, following existing properties in New Delhi and Bengaluru. And for Starwood, the hotel will mark its third opening in the city, joining the Aloft Ahmedabad and Four Points by Sheraton Ahmedabad.
