In the eyes of discerning international clients, Paris seems to be home to some of the most popular luxury hotels on the planet. In the latest reader poll from the Gallivanter's Guide, Le Bristol emerged as the top choice among city hotels worldwide.
With 21% of the votes, the prestigious hotel on the city's chic Rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré earned the title of "best city hotel worldwide" from the Gallivanter's Guide's readers based in 42 countries.
Clients are particularly fond of Le Bristol for its "extraordinary personalized service and excellent bar" and for the cuisine of its triple Michelin-starred chef Eric Frechon, according to the British guide, which specializes in high-end tourism and publishes the results of its annual reader poll annually.
The same poll brought another distinction for Le Bristol, whose manager Didier Le Calvez was elected best general manager worldwide. At the helm of the luxury hotel since 2010, Le Calvez has spearheaded a number of major changes over the past five years as part of an extensive renovation project.
Before that, he orchestrated the opening of the Four Seasons George V in Paris, which incidentally came in second place in Gallivanter's Guide's best city hotel worldwide category this year.
Le Bristol is no stranger to prestigious awards. In December, it was named best hotel in France by Institutional Investor, the American business review. Previously, the hotel earned the same distinction from the Tripadvisor community in the 2014 Travelers' Choice Awards Hotels. In 2013, rankings from the World Luxury Hotel Awards and from the international magazines Condé Nast Traveler and Travel + Leisure also honored the hotel.
