Five new residential parks have been opened up across the capital this week, according to a statement by Abu Dhabi Municipality on Tuesday. The parks, which have been created at a cost of Dh21 million, are expected to improve the quality of life for residents in the capital while also enhancing the aesthetic appearance of the city. The location of the newly-opened parks was determined based on population density and so that the largest number of residents can benefit from their use, the statement added. Their opening coincides with the activities of Plantation Week in Abu Dhabi, which is organised by the municipality to encourage conservation efforts and green technologies. The largest of the newly-opened parks, which spans an area of 25,613 square metres, is located in Al Mushrif West area near the premises of the General Women's Union. It includes an area for ice-skating as well as jogging tracks. Another is situated in Al Bateen West 16, at the intersection of Al Falah Street with Sultan Bin Zayed Street. It is 4,570 square metres in area. A third park is located at Al Zaab West 1/17, at the intersection of Khalifa Bin Shakhbout Street with Al Falah Street, and is 3,630 square metres in size. In Al Karama West 24/1 is another park that stretches across 3,010 square metres. The fifth park is in Al Rawdah West, and it is 1,750 square metres in area.
