The 29th session of the Arab Environment Ministers Council kicked off on Thursday under Director General of the Kuwaiti General Authority for Environment Sheikh Abdullah Al Humoud Al Sabah.
During the day-long session, Arab governmental delegations and environment ministers will discuss at the headquarters of the Arab League General Secretariat 27 items related to Arab environmental work.
This session, under the name of environmental governance, will discuss the implementation of the decisions of previous AL summits and the impact of the Israeli Dimona reactor and the Iranian Bushehr reactor on the Arab environment.
The council will tackle monitoring the radioactive contamination in the border areas with Israel and its effects on the region.
The council will also look into reports on the environmental status in Palestine, occupied Golan Heights, Jordan, Lebanon, Yemen and Djibouti, Libya and Comoros.
