Dubai - WAM

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has participated in an environmental campaign in cooperation with Emirates Marine Environmental Group (EMEG), to clean up beaches of Jebel Ali marine sanctuary and plant mangrove trees.

Individuals, school students, employees, students of DEWA Academy, and members of Youth Council of the authority participated in the campaign, which is part of DEWA’s activities during the 20th National Environment Day.

"This reflects the high priority that the UAE’s wise leadership gives to the development of a sustainable future, and raising awareness among society members, while encouraging environmentally-friendly practices including cleaning up natural sanctuaries and protecting wildlife according to the best practices and highest standards.

"DEWA takes the responsibility to achieve this by launching green initiatives and programmes, which supports national efforts and achieves a balance between sustainable development and environmental preservation. This will ensure the right of future generations to enjoy a clean, healthy, and safe environment," said Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA.

"We are pleased to co-organise this environmental campaign with EMEG, through which we will clean up some of the Emirate’s most important natural reserves in Jebel Ali," he added.

DEWA’s efforts to preserve natural resources has enabled the authority to win many prestigious awards in the field of environmental excellence during 2016.
