DMAT launches Green Abu Dhabi initiative for date palm trees and landscaping

 Department of Municipal Affairs and Transport at Abu Dhabi City Municipality has rolled Green Abu Dhabi initiative, for caring and protecting date palm trees and other trees as well as greens in Abu Dhabi.

Under the initiative, the civic body has started a campaign in coordination with Abu Dhabi Police and Tadweer, in entire Abu Dhabi Island and covers trimming and maintenance of trees and rehabilitation of the greens to give them a gorgeous and environmental dimension. Works included the removal of waste, planting soil cover as well as other sorts of local plantations, plant fencing, bushes, maintaining date trees and cleaning sectors.

The Municipality has set up an emergency centre to manage the campaign comprising three teams deployed around the clock in order to finalize all works before the start of the academic year 2017-2018.

The campaign covers the maintenance of 4164 trees and 10764 date palm trees as well as 450 thousand square metres of greens and soil covers. The campaign covered so far the maintenance of 222 trees, 6849 date palm trees and 22 thousand of square metres of greens and soil covers
