U.A.E.'s Emirates Red Crescent Authority (ERC), is sending ten drinking water tanks from Amman, Jordan, into Gaza Strip where they will be handed over to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) as part of ERC's continuous relief operation aimed at helping Gazan Palestinians.
Secretary-General of ERC, Mohamed Ateeq Al Falahi, said the humanitarian agency's latest relief effort for Gaza is in implementation of the instructions of Vice President and Prime Minister of the U.A.E. and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, to U.A.E. Suqia Water Aid Foundation, which is working on providing clean water for five million people around the world, to give top priority to providing potable water to tens of thousands of Gazans who are living in tragic humanitarian conditions and suffering from acute shortage of water, and to act swiftly to provide enough water supplies despite tremendous challenges to achieve that goal amidst the continuous Israeli aggression on Gaza Strip.
ERC is coordinating its emergency water aid for Gaza with its delegations in Egypt and Gaza and the U.A.E. Embassy in Amman.
Mr. Al Falahi noted that the initiative is only part of the U.A.E. humanitarian major's Gaza operation which has already delivered food aid, shelters and clothes, as well as medical, healthcare and hygiene aid to Gazans taking shelter at UNRWA schools from the dangerous development in the strip.
Mr. Al Falahi added that as U.A.E. continues its relief efforts to help Gazans, ERC has already sent a fifth delegation to the strip since the start of onslaught on Gaza in coordination with the country's embassies in Egypt and Jordan, Palestine Red Crescent Society and international humanitarian agencies operating in Gaza Strip.
