The Kuwait Institute for Scientific Research (KISR) and the Central Committee for Overseeing the Environment Rehabilitation signed yesterday a contract upon which KISR will supervise all environmental projects of the Central Committee. In a press statement, Acting Head of the General Secretariat of the Central Committee, Khaled Al-Khamis said that the five-year contract enhances the strategic partnership between the Committee and the Institute in executing projects aiming to protect the environment in Kuwait. The planned projects include groundwater treatment, rehabilitation of oil-polluted coastal areas and cultivation of areas deserted following the war and areas affected by oil leaks etc. Khamis pointed out that the Institute will provide technical support for the KD9.6-million rehabilitation program, praising the role of the Institute in support of environmental causes and its proven experience in the rehabilitation of war-affected areas. For his part, Chairman of the Institute, Dr Naji Al-Mutairi expressed pride of the Central Committee confident in the Institute, describing the protection of Kuwaiti environment and health of all who live in Kuwait as a national duty. The Institute is dedicating its expertise and capabilities, developed over many years, to help environmental projects prove success and achieve its objectives.
