Kuwait's efforts to preserve and protect sea turtles from extinction have been received with high international interest by scientific organizations and institutions concerned with marine biological diversity, Kuwait Institute for Scientific Research (KISR) affirmed Saturday.
In continued efforts to protect biological diversity, KISR is to organize a scientific discussion panel on sea turtles preservation and protection from extinction in Kuwait waters next Tuesday December 9th, in cooperation with major international, regional, and local institutions.
The first ever two-day discussion panel, entitled "Towards a better future in the Gulf", is to discuss international and regional efforts exerted to protect sea turtles, as well as best ways to preserve them from extinction in the Gulf, Amani Al-Yaqout, scientific researcher at KISR said in a press statement, adding that a number of prominent researchers and specialized activists are to take part at the panel.
An awareness campaign is to be held on the sidelines of the panel, entitled "Sea turtles and environment protection festival in Kuwait for a better future", with participation of school and university students, she said, noting the campaign aims to increase awareness among students of different age groups on importance to preserve sea environment in general, and Kuwait's turtles in particular.
