Kuwait Ports Authority announced halt of maritime traffic in the three ports of Shuwaikh, Shuaiba and Doha on Thursday due to dusty weather currently englufing the country.
Captain Marzouq Al-Qahtani, in charge of marine operations at Shuwaikh Port, said in a statement the prevailing weather conditions, namely the blowing gale winds and the dust, have prompted the authorities to halt the marine navigation to and from the three key harbors.
Winds have soared to 32-35 nautical knots and visibility has ebbed, he confirmed, noting keenness on safety of personnel, ships and piers.
Navigation at ports, according to internatinal rules, must stop when visibility drops below three nautical miles.
