The Public Authority of Agriculture Affairs and Fish Resources (PAAF) and the Kuwaiti Fishermen's Union on Tuesday quashed claims on social media that amounts of dead fish were found on the Kuwaiti shores.
The PAAF marine control department has been conducting daily surveys and no single case has been found, said the authority public relations director, Shaker Awadh, terming the reports as "untrue." By the same token, head of the Fishermen Union Zaher Al-Soyan said the video on the death of huge amounts of fish in a Gulf state, has nothing to do with Kuwait.
Al-Soyan, in a press statement, warned people against spreading false news on the issue or the Union, assuring the Kuwaiti public that their coasts are safe and clear of any dead fish.
As for the season of shrimp-fishing in the Kuwaiti waters that starts on September 1, Al-Soyan urged fishermen to abide by the relevant laws for preserving the marine environment.
He also highlighted the cooperation between the Union and the PAAF.
