Masdar, Abu Dhabi's renewable energy company, has advised workers employed on projects in Masdar City, as part of the contractor management programme, on how to stay healthy and safe during the high summer temperatures as part of its heat stress safety awareness campaign, launched this week.

The heat stress safety awareness campaign, now in its fourth year, includes advice for workers on how to stay well hydrated and how to reduce the risk of heat exhaustion, heat stroke and other hazards. They are also shown videos, in English and Hindi, with tips on working safely in the heat, produced by the Health Authority of Abu Dhabi, HAAD.

"At Masdar, we are committed to the health and safety of workers at Masdar City, where we are building the world's most sustainable city," said Naser Al Zaabi, Manager of Quality, Health, Safety and Environment at Masdar. "Working safely in the heat requires knowing the right steps to take, and we are pleased to provide this information to our contractors and workers at Masdar City."

Following the presentations, Masdar presented awards to several employees from contractor companies who have exhibited exemplary health and safety performance on site. The company also provides reusable water bottles to encourage workers to drink lots of water.

As part of the campaign, Masdar has issued safety bulletins reminding contractors about construction site health and safety requirements and has placed posters throughout Masdar City highlighting ways to stay safe while working in the summer heat
