Dubai - WAM

The Ministry of Climate Change and the Environment, MOCCAE, has strengthened its track record and global competitiveness in the management of the institutional innovation system by receiving the platinum accreditation from Ideas UK, a company specialising in evaluating the suggestions systems applied in government and private institutions around the world.

Fatma Tawakul, Head of the Strategy and Future Department at MOCCAE, said, "Innovation and creativity are a culture that permeates the UAE society and all its institutions, categories and members, thanks to our wise leadership, who has taken the lead in recognising the importance of ideas in improving and developing work and upgrading it from various aspects."

Tawakul also praised the responsiveness and interaction of ministry employees with the institutional innovation system and their keenness to provide constructive ideas to strengthen the ministry's reputation and position. This has enabled the ministry to accomplish an unprecedented global feat as one of the first federal agencies at the federal level to obtain the platinum accreditation from Ideas UK in recognition of the efficiency of its innovation management system.

The ministry held a ceremony to honour 63 employees in various institutional innovation categories and included the owners of proposals implemented by the ministry.

Aisha Al Abdooli, Director of Green Development and Environmental Affairs and CEO of Innovation at the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment, said that MOCCAE received the platinum accreditation after passing the auditing process, conducted by Ideas UK’s auditors last month to evaluate the ministry’s institutional innovation management system to motivate employees to share their suggestions and ideas, aiming at improving their performance and productivity, health and safety, as well as reducing costs and increasing customer satisfaction.

Al Abdooli added that the ministry has met the criteria for obtaining the platinum accreditation from Ideas UK because of the outstanding performance of the institutional innovation management system and the continuous improvement and development of the system, which achieved 90 percent efficiency across more than 50 principles.

The evaluation showed the efficiency of the programme to promote the culture of innovation and creativity in the ministry, the mechanism of evaluating ideas, the use of the information systems, training and encouragement, in addition to the reward system, communication, marketing methodology and laws and finally the organisational structure and management support.
