Musicians from Abu Dhabi’s music school Bait Al Oud yesterday performed a concert in Qasr Al Muwaiji in Al Ain, as part of the annual Music Programme organised by the Department of Culture and Tourism in Abu Dhabi.
The audience was taken on a musical journey through the Middle East and Asia Minor by Azerbaijani musician Shahriyar, together with Bait Al Oud teachers Sherine Tohami (Oud), Bassam Abdel Sattar (Qanoon) and Ahmad Taha (Oriental Cello), who were joined by prominent Emirati poets, Hamed Al Hashemi and Ahmed Al Mannaee, creating a dialogue between international and traditional music, and the voices, thoughts and visions of Emirati poets.
Encouraging the dissemination of knowledge concerning the history, theory, practice and performance of Arabic music and instruments, Bait Al Oud, which was founded by Abu Dhabi's Department of Culture and Tourism, is dedicated to restoring music as an integral element of the cultural life of Abu Dhabi fostering creativity and promoting artistic dialogue throughout the emirate and beyond.
