The Red Sea Port Authority decided on Monday to raise the state of alert in all harbors in anticipation of bad weather.
Sandstorms are expected across the nation within the coming few days and navigation might be disrupted, said spokesman for the authority Abdel Rehim Moustafa.
All necessary measures were taken to guarantee safe navigation and regular handling of commodities, he added.
