Sharjah - Arab Today

Sharjah Environment and Protected Areas Authority, EPAA, on Wednesday organised an event at the Arabian Wildlife Centre to celebrate World Animal Day.

Hana Saif Al Suwaidi, Sharjah EPAA Chairperson, said, "We celebrate World Animal Day on 4th October every year in line with Sharjah’s efforts to protect all natural life and especially to preserve endangered species. We highlighted the importance of animals in the Arabian Peninsula, and what it is that makes them endangered, as well as the EPAA efforts to protect them and provide them with better environments."

The event programme included an exhibition of art work of animals that were put up for auction to raise money for the charity organised by the EPAA.

The exhibition also included recycled products and paintings of endangered animals from around the world and a creative map illustrating animals in the Arabian Peninsula. There was also a display that included an explanation of why animals are endangered, alongside models representing the role of the EPAA and the centres that have contributed to the preservation of endangered animals.
