A successful environmental campaign was launched by the Northern governorate. Billboards highlighting the most common violations were installed before legal action was taken against the violators.
Abandoned cars were removed in Salmabad industrial area and gas emissions were reduced from nearby cement factories by 80%.
The campaign was implemented in partnership with the Supreme Council for Environment., in addition to suggesting technology usage to help filter and limit pollution.
Sand dunes and cement storage piles were removed from one of the violating factories in the area.
Northern Governor Ali Ibn AlShaikh Abdulhussain Al Asfoor stressed the campaign’s main objective initially begun in June 2016 and meant to give the opportunity at first for everyone to take appropriate remedial measures wherever necessary to control violations that cause environmental pollution.
