Al Ain random waste dumping campaign
Abu dhabi - WAM

The Center of Waste Management, Abu Dhabi, in cooperation with Al Ain Municipality, has launched "Al Ain – random waste dumping free" campaign with the objective to limit random waste dumping.

Nayel Rashed Al Shamsi, Al Ain Branch Manager at Tadweer, said that the campaign was organised in line with Tadweer’s efforts to raise awareness amongst community members in Al Ain to underline the importance of maintaining a sustainable and healthy environment. Tadweer is working towards reducing random dumping across the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, which maintains the cleanness of its rural areas, farms and desert spaces by limiting the spread of public health pest control.

The campaign targets all illegal waste dumpers, ranging from companies to contractors, and the wider community of Al Ain city, rural areas and farms. Cooperators on this campaign included all Al Ain Municipality’s primary centres, Al Wagan, the city centre, and Hayer areas.

During the campaign, all random waste was removed from numerous areas, and was delivered to Al Ain Municipality, which will be closely monitoring the random dumping situation. All northern region was fully cleaned, including housing areas, Al Hayer, Al-Shuaib and Al Faga’a, meanwhile Tadweer is tackling the Nahel and Suwaihan areas.

The total amount of waste collected to date is approximately 4,800 tons. In the southern region, covering Al Maragh and Al Shuaimah, and a few communities including Al Kharir, Mazyad and Al Thaher, waste collection was approximately 3,600 tons. Work is now underway in Ghafa and Sa’a.
