The Gulf Petrochemical Industries (GPIC) Company organized yesterday (Monday 25 June) a special ceremony under the auspices of Education Minister Dr. Majid bin Ali Al-Nuaimi in the presence of GPIC's CEO, members of GPIC's executive management and trade union as well as principals of participating schools, marking the conclusion of the 8th education and educational program for the academic year 2011-2012 aimed at encouraging environmental research, during which a number of female and male students and participants were honored. The company's chief executive officer engineer Abdulrahman Jawaheri made an inaugural speech in which he thanked the Education Minister Dr. Majid bin Ali Al-Nuaimi and all ministry officials who have contributed considerable efforts citing their laudable cooperation and coordination with the company. Engineer Jawaheri concluded his speech by expressing his gratitude and appreciation towards the support and assistance provided from GPIC's chairman of the board of directors Shaikh Isa bin Ali Al Khalifa who is advisor to HRH the Premier for oil and industrial affairs, into all GPIC's activities and programs specially environmental research programs. GPIC CEO also thanked the members of the secretariat of the educational, petrochemical and environmental program for their persistent hard efforts in setting up the program's main regulations and for inviting schools and choosing research topics, follow up and appraisal thereof. Dr. Jawaheri also thanked GPIC's engineers who contributed their time and efforts in presenting environmental awareness lectures to students. The Education Minister Dr. Majid bin Ali Al-Nuaimi also spoke and expressed his delight as he attends this annual gathering which celebrate students from schools which won in the educational, petrochemicals and environmental research program which is an embodiment of constant cooperation between the Education Ministry and GPIC and praised GPIC's role in developing our national economy as well as its social and enviromental contributions and interaction with the Ministry of Education in boosting students' environmental awareness. The Minister also thanked GPIC's CEO engineer Abdulrahman Jawaheri and all company employees for their cooperation with the Education Ministry, citing their constant cooperation with the Ministry in boosting its development programs. The Minister of Education emphasized that the Ministry has made considerable leading strides in terms of boosting environmental awareness and life skills, serving the community as part of developing the concept of learning for the sake of knowledgeable living. Peaceful co-existence and self-improvement as well as helping students cope with social, environmental and humanitarian ambience developing students' knowledge, love, solidarity and national responsibility. The Minister has honored students who presented winning projects and announced the names of the top three winning participants. The program was launched in 2001 and presented lectures on various environmental issues such as the greenhouse effect (or global warming), depletion of the ozone layer, acid rain, reduction of the adverse impact of depleted natural resources and visited 296 schools from which more than 21,962 students attended the program lectures.
