We aim to make 15% of Sharjah’s land nature reserves, says Sharjah Ruler SHARJAH, 17th October, 2017 (WAM) -- H.H. Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, said that he aims to turn 15 percent of Sharjah’s area into nature reserves, according to Sharjah 24, a digital news website for the government of Sharjah.

This came during an intervention Sheikh Sultan made via the Direct Line Programme broadcast live on Sharjah Radio and TV on Tuesday.

Sharjah 24 quoted H.H. Sheikh Sultan Al Qasimi as saying:"On my last visit to Khorfakkan, I inspected the areas that will be planted, and the mountains that will be turned into green areas on the new road. At the entrance of the popular Al Hisn area, you will find that the plants were planted by nature without our interference, and the purpose of agriculture is to preserve wild animals and birds.'' Stating that the Breeding Centre for Endangered Arabian Wildlife, BCEAW, has been established to protect these animals, H.H. Sheikh Sultan said, "Among our new projects, is the Al Qarm Nature Reserve, which will include four environments."
