A power plant fuelled by renewable energy with a capacity of 1,000 megawatts (MW) is to be set up in Algeria in partnership with Sonelgaz group and Desertec industrial initiative (DII), an official from the Algerian-German Chamber of Industry and Commerce (AHK) said Tuesday in Algiers. All technologies relating to renewable energy industry (solar-thermal and photovoltaic, wind) will be tested by the project, to be executed according to an agreement, concluded in 2011, between Sonelgaz and DII, Sarah Ruschkowski, Head of Fairs Department at AHK. The project is currently under feasibility study, but the place to host it is yet to be determined, Ruschkowski told reporters on the sidelines of El Moudjahid daily forum
