Saudi Electricity Company has been enhancing its electrical capabilities since its inception in the year 2000 to meet the growing demands for electric power in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Statistics issued by the Company and reported today by the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), on the occasion of the 81st anniversary of the National Day of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, showed that the number of the Company's subscribers jumped from 3.5 million in 2000 to more than 6.2 million subscribers, up by 77. 1% in 12,144 cities and villages. The statistics also indicated that the generating capacity of power produced by the Company and other producers reached 51,185 megawatts by the end of last June this year, compared to 24, 083 megawatts in 2000 .
