Manama - BNA

Work on the relocation of the air fuel depots in Arad is expected to be given the go-ahead in the first quarter of this year.
The move followed directives from His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al-Khalifa to relocate the depots inside the area demarcated for Bahrain International Airport.
An alternative site for the depots has been demarcated and British Petroleum has already drawn up the preliminary engineering designs for the relocation to proceed.
"Twelve international engineering firms specialized in such projects have already been pre-selected", said Energy Minister Dr. Abdulhussain bin Ali Mirza as he paid a joint visit to Arad with Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning Minister Essam Abdulla Khalaf.
Chairing last week’s Cabinet meeting, HRH the Premier also instructed relevant authorities to study the possibility of relocating the power complex in a bid to protect the environment and ensure people’s safety.
The ministers were accompanied in their visit by member of the Council of Representatives Ali Al-Muqla, Municipal Councilor Sabah Rashid Al-Dosary and other officials and representatives of Arad residents.
Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning Minister Essam Abdulla Khalaf directed officials to study the possibility of upgrading entries and exists to Arad and providing parking lots and service facilities as part of efforts to ensure people’s safety and the smooth flow of the traffic.
