Britain and Pakistan on Thursday agreed to boost their cooperation in the energy sector, including sharing policy expertise and increasing investment opportunities between the two sides.
The Britain-Pakistan Energy and Investment Dialogue, held Thursday in London, discussed how Pakistan could address its energy challenges and share British expertise and experience in the energy sector, British Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) said in a statement.
The forum, attended by visiting Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and British Minister for Pakistan Tobias Ellwood, also provided a platform to highlight investment opportunities in the Pakistan energy sector for potential British investors, the FCO noted.
Discussions at the event also took place around improving energy capacity, renewable energy, market regulation and environmental issues. The ministers welcomed the prospect of greater British engagement in the Pakistan energy sector.
"The UK is committed to helping address Pakistan's energy needs through sharing our policy expertise, experience and industry," Ellwood said after the forum.
Matthew Hancock, British minister for business, enterprise and energy, said: "The UK and Pakistan enjoy a close friendship and it's good to see an event showcasing such great potential cooperation for both countries."
