The Dubai Supreme Council of Energy (DSCE) has held a press conference in Amman, Jordan, to promote the third Emirates Energy Award (EEA), the first in a series of press conferences to be held in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) to promote the award.

Present during the press conference were representatives from various Jordanian ministries, local organisations, and media professionals from local and regional radio stations, television channels and newspapers.

The delegation from the DSCE was comprised of Faisal Ali Rashid, Director of Demand Side Management, Taher Diab, Secretary General of the EEA and Ali Al Suwaidi, Manager of Corporate Communications and members of the EEA Marketing and Events committee.

"We have launched the third Emirates Energy Award 2016-2017 under the patronage of Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, under the theme ‘Innovative Solutions for Clean Energy.’ Through this event, we aim to attract a large number of Arab experts in energy and renewable energy," said Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Vice-Chairman of the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy.

"The Emirates Energy Award serves as a global platform for exchanging ideas and experiences in innovation, and conservation, while protecting the environment and ensuring sustainability," added Al Tayer.

Meanwhile, Ahmed Buti Al Muhairabi, Secretary General of the Supreme Council of Energy and Vice Chairman of the Executive Committee of the EEA, commended the efforts and cooperation of the attendees and their efforts to cover the event.

"Through this award, we want to promote a culture of excellence, sustainability and innovation in energy management, enhance its efficiency and increase awareness about the culture of sustainability of alternative and clean energy resources. The award also aims to encourage the public and private sectors and widely promote and encourage their protecting the environment and preserving natural resources," said Al Muhairabi.

"The goals of the award in energy management supports the vision of the UAE’s wise leadership to position the country as a centre of innovation for clean energy," added Al Muhairabi.

During the event, Ali Al Suwaidi informed about the Supreme Council of Energy and the EEA, including its goals, and categories. Diab explained in detail the major subjects, principles and rules of participation for the award, emphasising that registration will be from 1 December, 2016 to the end of March 2017.

Faisal Ali Rashid introduced the Demand Side Management Strategy, which includes raising community awareness about conservation, reducing the demand for energy and protecting natural resources.

The delegation of the Supreme Council of Energy participated in the CIGRE Jordan exhibition in Amman and was welcomed by Ibrahim Hassan Mustafa Saif, the Jordanian Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources. Saif commended the role of the award and its continuing efforts to spread awareness about the importance of sustainability and innovation.

The DSCE recently launched the Award under the theme ‘Innovative Solutions for Clean Energy.’ The jury will evaluate the applications from April to September 2017. The final ceremony will be held to honour the winners on 22 October 2017, in conjunction with World Energy Day.
