The Dubai Supreme Council of Energy has announced that participation in the Emirates Energy Award (EEA) is now open for Qatari individuals and organisations.
"We are pleased to announce today that participation is open for Qatari individuals and organisations. Qatar has extensive experience in renewable and clean energy. We looks forward to exchanging best practices and experiences through the EEA, which celebrates successful and innovative projects that will benefit and positively impact the whole world. The award aims also to disseminate and raise awareness about energy consumption and management among all Arab societies to encourage natural resource conservation and achieve sustainable development, for generations to come," said Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Vice Chairman of the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy and President of the EEA, at a press conference held in Doha, Qatar as part of its roadshow to promote the Emirates Energy Award (EEA) in the Middle East and North Africa.
Al Tayer added that under the patronage of Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the council launched the second Emirates Energy Award to build on the resounding success of the first award in 2013. "This award will raise awareness among individuals and organisations about the importance of preserving natural resources and protecting the environment. We want to involve all players from the Middle East and North Africa, especially Qatar." The conference was attended by Saleh Mohamed bin Nasra Al Amri, the UAE Ambassador to Qatar. The Supreme Council of Energy’s delegation included Taher Diab, Secretary General of the EEA, Omar Al Qurashi, Vice Chairman of the Marketing and Events Committee of the EEA, and Ali Al Suwaidi, Member of the Marketing and Events Committee.
The conference was attended by directors and CEOs of government and private organisations, as well as local media representatives.
"The EEA is a global platform for renewable and clean energy projects. We do our part to increase awareness among individuals and organisations to protect natural resources, achieve sustainability and enhance green economy in alignment with the Dubai Integrated Energy Strategy 2030," said Ahmed Butti Al Muhairbi, Secretary General of the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy.
Due to the high number of submissions and to provide equal opportunities for companies and individuals, the application deadline has been extended until 15 February 2015.
