The Electricity Ministry is committed to maintaining the power prices of last year, a senior official has assured.
Cairo is keen on alleviating the burden off citizens' shoulders, said Engineer Sabah Mashali, the first undersecretary at the ministry for upgrading electricity performance.
She was speaking in statements following the second conference on energy and the future of investment in Egypt, which she attended on behalf of Electricity Minister Mohamed Shaker.
The Ministry is committed to restructuring the electricity prices for the coming five years in line with a Cabinet decision to that effect, Mashali said.
Power subsidy for deserving citizens will continue even after those five years, she assured.
Mashali said the Petroleum Ministry has imported liquified gas from abroad at 12 dollars per one million British Thermal Units.
