Emirates Central Cooling Systems Corporation, Empower, has developed a plan aligned with Dubai Plan 2021 perspectives by exerting efforts in 6 key themes, including city of happy, creative and empowered people, inclusive and cohesive society, preferred place to live, work and visit, smart and sustainable city, pivotal hub in the global economy, and a pioneering and excellent government.
Empower has been awarded the Dubai Chamber CSR Label in recognition of its success in operating sustainably and responsibly across corporate practices. This functions as a concise and voluntary standard for businesses across the emirate to incorporate corporate social responsibility practices in their operations. It also launched a training programme in which many UAE students are being familiarised with skills needed in the district cooling industry. The company also organised a humanitarian entertainment event in collaboration with the Thalassemia Centre Dubai, and launched an emirate-wide summer campaign to reduce district cooling consumption and boost transparency levels in its billing methodology.
"These are only a few examples carried out by Empower in the past few months, not to mention the company's efforts over more than a decade in operation," said Ahmad bin Shafar, Chief Executive Officer of Empower. "We will go further in supporting Dubai to become a city of happy, creative and empowered people."
Over the past year, Empower was committed to providing continuous uninterrupted services based on the highest international standards in order to achieve customer satisfaction, and provide a high-quality living experience which enhances Dubai's position as the preferred place to live, work and visit. Earlier this year, The International District Energy Association, IDEA, has honoured Empower with the IDEA Innovation Award 2015, in recognition of its Centralised Metering Data Management System that manages more than 50,000 smart meters. The company has received this award for the second time, a reflection of its high global standing in the field of innovation.
"We believe the emergence of Empower into a global service-provider has significant economic implications which will contribute to making the emirate a pivotal hub in the global economy. It is a matter of great pride that we showcased the role of Empower to global forums and events such as the United Nations Environment Programme Vienna Energy Forum 2015, the 106th International District Energy Association Annual Conference and Trade Show, and the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers events, as well as many others," added bin Shafar.
Empower organised the 6th District Cooling Conference under the theme of "Cleaner Energy, Greener Cities" in Dubai. This enhanced its contribution to strengthening the role of Dubai in district cooling on the global front.
"We are certainly working within the framework of Dubai Plan 2021 to help in establishing a pioneering and excellent entity, as we consider the concept of innovation essential in our daily work. We invite all our management departments to contribute to deploying this culture to enhance the efficiency and raise the level of services we provide to bring happiness to people and to meet their ambition and requirements," bin Shafar said.
