The 4th Arab-Chinese Cooperation Conference, organized by Saudi Ministry of Water and Electricity for Electric Affairs, entitled "Sustainable Energy for Development" started here on Tuesday.
The conference comes amid the international events that underline the importance of harnessing all sources of energy to make them available for all citizens on the one hand and to push sustainable development in the global society on the other hand, Saleh Al-Awaji, head of the organizing committee, said in statements.
He added that the conference aims at enhancing Arab-Chinese cooperation and coordinating stances at the international forums interested in energy affairs.
Al-Awaji noted that all participants seek to exchange expertise in all domains related to energy and open new horizons for building technical and economic partnerships.
They also aim at encouraging the private sector to invest in energy projects on the basis of achieving common interest, he added.
The three-day event includes five sessions on electric energy, renewable energy, peaceful use of atomic energy, oil and natural gas, he pointed out.
He said the Arab League Secretariat General participates in the conference by high-powered officials in different energy sectors, experts, engineers, businessmen and industrialists concerned with energy affairs.
The Organization of Arab Petroleum Exporting Counties (OAPEC), Arab Atomic Energy Agency (AAEA), and the Arab Organization for Industrial Development and Mining are also present in the conference.
The event comes in implementation of the final statement by the 3rd Arab-Chinese Cooperation Conference in China, in 2012, and recommendations of the 6th ministerial meeting of Arab-Chinese Cooperation Forum in Beijing in June 2014.
