Jeddah - Arabstoday

Spain’s biggest business school IEB has launched a special course focusing on finance and investment in nuclear and renewable energy projects - with GCC executives being targeted for the programme that will run in both Jeddah and Madrid. Several officials currently based at the KACARE (King Abdullah City for Atomic and Renewable Energy) have already signed up for the course which begins in May. The course - being run jointly by IEB, Spain’s largest financial business school, and CEIT / CBA (College of Engineering and Information Technology) will cover major typologies of nuclear and renewable energies: how to develop a sustainable energy strategy for the Saudi Arabia, how to develop the right analytical tools to assess energy competitiveness, efficiency, sustainability and the appropriate regulatory framework; alongside with the ability to value the implications of new security systems, climate change, and energy use and intensity. In addition, while in Spain participants in the programme will have the opportunity to visit several types of energy facilities, such as nuclear plants, windmill turbines, and photovoltaic and thermal solar plants. The programme is headed by Professor Rodrigo Villamizar Alvargonzalez, a former energy minister of Colombia with more than 30 years of experience in the execution of strategic energy planning and policy, and current advisor of the US Department of Energy Advisory Committee in matters related to current energy issues and future alternative trends and options. Ms. Ingrid Naranjo are representing IEB in the GCC region.
