The Saudi city Al-Dammam has witnessed eventful inauguration of headquarters of the GCC power grid authority and the network main control center. Speaking at the inauguration of the six-storey "smart building," in Saudi city Al-Dammam late on Wednesday, the board chairman of the GCC Interconnection Authority, Ahmad Al-Jassar, said the opening of the main building came five years after the joint power network was operated. The GCC joint power grid has been launched to aid the council member states cope with soaring demand in emergency conditions or during the summer times. Oman has recently agreed to joint the common network. Al-Jassar, also Kuwait''''s Undersecretary at the Ministry of Electricity and Water, re-affirmed that the project aims to supply each of the member states with surplus power product.
