Yangon - XINHUA

Myanmar is striving to make electricity available in every part of the country by 2030, official media reported Saturday.

Myanmar has increased its nationwide power supply by 1,400 megawatts to a total of 4,800 megawatts, up from 3,413 megawatts five years ago, said the Global New Light of Myanmar.

Meanwhile, Myanmar electric power authorities are also planning to construct more power grids and substations to ensure that over 90 percent of the households in Kayah State will enjoy access to electricity by the end of this fiscal year.

According to official statistics, Myanmar draws 72 percent of electricity from hydropower, 24 percent from natural gas and 4 percent from coal-fired plants.
