No increase in electricity bills in January in Egypt

Spokesman for Electricity Ministry Mohammed Al Yamani denied on Thursday reports on increasing the prices of electricity bills as of January, 2015.
He added that the ministry is committed to the new categories adopted by Egypt's cabinet as of last July.
The new categories, which are available on the electricity ministry's website and its companies, would serve the low-income brackets, he asserted.
The second electricity category comes as part of the previously announced decision to gradually end subsidy on electricity in five years, the official underlined.
