The delegation headed by Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Vice Chairman of the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy, Managing Director & CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), and Chairman of the World Green Economy Summit (WGES), concluded the visit to Paris by holding a network briefing with over 150 high-level officials representing French government and private-sector organisations and companies. The event explored and enhanced collaboration opportunities between the two sides.
Participants at the event included the French Trade Commission (UBI), Union of Renewables (SER), the French Business Confederation (MEDEF), which includes 800,000 French business around the world and is headed by 40 CEOs of major international companies. The meeting also included representatives of private-sector organisations and international banks such as the World Bank, European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), Asian Development Bank (ADB), Islamic Development Bank (IDB), and other development banks and international organisations.
In his inaugural speech, Jean-Louis Chaussad, Chairman of the Emirati-French Business Council, CEO of Suez Environment, welcomed the delegation on behalf of MEDEF, highlighting its short- and long- term plans to develop business and investment with the U.A.E. in general and Dubai in particular. He highlighted the developments and achievements of the Government of Dubai in green economy, smart cities, and sustainability.
In his speech, Al Tayer welcomed participation by French companies in the projects carried out by the Supreme Council of Energy and DEWA, enhancing collaboration with the French Government in energy, water, environment, and renewable energy. He also discussed the growth of the energy sector in Dubai, and the current projects, and future opportunities for French companies in electricity generation, transmission and distribution.
Al Tayer invited French companies to participate in the next Water, Energy, Technology, and Environment Exhibition (WETEX 2015(, which will be held in Dubai next April. The invitation was highly welcomed.
The meeting was attended by Waleed Salman, Executive Vice President of Strategy and Business Development at DEWA, who gave a presentation about the projects and investment opportunities provided by DEWA and the Supreme Council of Energy.
Dr. Yousef Al Akraf, Executive Vice President of Business Support and Human Resources, Chairman of the Sales and Logistics Committee of WETEX 2015, highlighted WETEX’s milestones and achievements over the last 16 years.
The event concluded with a souvenir presented to Chaussad. The two sides confirmed their commitment for collaboration in the near future.
